Robins Air Force Base opens hydrogen filling station
Robins Air Force Base, located in Georgia, USA, has opened a hydrogen fuelling station. The hydrogen from the station will be used to fuel 20 forklifts at a new distribution centre on the base. The station can produce up to 100 kg of hydrogen per day.
The base is the site of one of four sites taking part in the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Project, a collaboration between the United States Departments of Defense and Energy to develop and test alternative fuelling technologies.
The hydrogen generation technology is provided by Air Products and a firm called CTC built the station.
