Plug Power commissions fuel cell unit at Union College in New York

Plug Power, a U.S.-based fuel cell developer, has commissioned a 5 kW combined heat and power unit at a student residence at Union College in New York. The project, a partnership between local utility National Grid, Plug Power, Union College, and the United States Department of Energy, will be used to teach engineering students about fuel cells as well as heat all of the dormitory's hot water. The CHP unit uses converted natural gas as fuel and the data of the field trial will be available to students of all levels.
