Six major automakers sign MOU encouraging the development of hydrogen infrastructure
Six major automakers - Toyota, Hyundai, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Co., and Honda - have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the development of fuel cell light duty vehicles and the necessary accompanying hydrogen infrastructure.
Each of the automakers has plans to roll out fuel cell vehicles by 2015 with total vehicles commercialised in the hundreds of thousands shortly thereafter. In order to sucessfully commercialise these automobiles, the automakers have decided to make their case for oil and gas as well as govenment stakeholders to encourage the rollout of hydrogen refuelling infrastructure to reassure consumers and let the market take hold.
