Horizon announces development of new fuel cell system for UAVs
Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies, a firm specialising in the development of fuel cell systems for aerospace applications, has announced the development of a new hydrogen fuel cell system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
According to the firm’s press release, the fuel cell system can fit into the vehicles’ existing battery bay without modifying the airframe. The press release also states that the fuel cell system can operate at up to 22,000 feet (6500m) and stores 900Wh of usable electrical energy while weighing 4.4 lbs (2kg).
The company expects to ship out models for evaluation this summer.
