Sony unveils three DMFC concept products

Sony has unveiled three new direct methanol fuel cell concepts at the 5th International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Expo 2009 being held in Tokyo, Japan.

Two are recharging devices that use a DMFC and a lithium-ion rechargeable battery.  One is a wristband-mounted device for recharging mobile phones.  The other is a general charger for around the home.  Sony is also showing a speaker system that Sony says won’t need a replacement cell for 12 months. These are concepts, and Sony has not announced any firm plans for when it will release a fuel cell on the market.
