Rensselaer Acquires Precision Flow Technologies SOFC Test Equipment

Rensselaer has recently installed two Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) test systems from Precision Flow Technologies (PFT).  One system will be used by RPI for SOFC degradation research and contract testing with Industrial partners.  The second system, donated by Precision Flow Technologies, will be used by RPI students and will also be used as test/demonstration center for PFT customers.  The SOFC test system is completely integrated with automated test package, flexible gas delivery, data acquisition and control systems.

The equipment will help expand the university’s fuel cell program and allow Rensselaer researchers and students to broaden their capabilities to include SOFC testing. Looking forward, Rensselaer and Precision Flow Technologies also plan to collaborate on several fuel cell research projects.  PFT will also provide a range of related maintenance and customer support services.
