Fuel cell powered Renault Scenic

Renault, the French carmaker, has been allowing journalists to put its fuel cell powered Scenic model through its paces on a test track in France, according to a report in the Independent.

The Renault Scenic ZEV H2 is powered by a 90 kW fuel cell stack, with a 25 kW lithium ion battery for peak loads. The car has a top speed of 100 miles per hour and a range of around 150 miles.

Renault estimate the car cost around 1 million Euros and although the car will not be available to buy yet, the firm aim to put fuel cell cars on the road within the next decade.

Carlos Ghosn, Renault’s boss, is has ambitious plans for electric cars, and together with partner Nissan is making battery powered vehicles available in Israel and Denmark.
