Acumentrics receives $15.6 million DOE fuel cell development contract

Targets include further cost reduction, durability and increased system size

The Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) has awarded Acumentrics Corporation a 3 and a half year $15.6 million (including the cost-share provided by Acumentrics) grant to continue advancement of the company’s tubular solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) technology and to double the size of the units to 10 kilowatts.  Phase I of this development work was funded through the DOE Fossil Energy Solid-State Energy Conversion Alliance (SECA) program.  Acumentrics will continue Phase II as part of the EERE Hydrogen, Fuel Cells and Infrastructure Technologies (HFCIT) Program’s effort to develop fuel cell technologies for small stationary applications.
