John Picard presented with BMW Hydrogen 7
Environmentalist and entrepreneur John Picard is the latest person to be presented with one of BMW's Hydrogen 7 vehicles, joining a list of well known figures including Cameron Diaz, Jay Leno and Ed Norton.
Mr Picard said he was delighted to be receiving the keys to the vehicle and was confident that the Hydrogen 7 could help to inspire sustainability.
The car has been presented to Mr Picard as part of BMW's Pioneer Programme, which gives industry leaders, celebrities and politicians the opportunity to test drive a fuel cell vehicle and demonstrate to the public that hydrogen-powered cars can be used as part of daily life.
"BMW has kept the integrity, performance, and luxury of the 7 Series in tact while giving the driver an awesome sense of being responsible in the world. Hydrogen is the ultimate molecule and I commend BMW for creating a vehicle that breaks through the institutional barriers in the transportation space," he Picard commented.
According to BMW, the Hydrogen 7 is the world's first "production ready" hydrogen-powered vehicle.
