NexTech receives funding for solid oxide fuel cells

Ohio-based NexTech Materials has been awarded two grants to develop and manufacture "ultra large" area planer solid oxide fuel cells, for use in 100+KW power generation systems.

Nextech received the funding as part of the Ohio Third Frontier Programme, which is aimed at accelerating the development of alternative energy solutions.

"Strategic investments from Ohio's Third Frontier Fuel Cell Program have established our state as a global leader in fuel cell innovations," said Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher, chair of the Third Frontier Commission and director of the Ohio Department of Development.

Founded in 1994, NexTech Materials currently has customers in over 35 countries and is currently developing a number of fuel cell products, including fuel cell stacks for military and residential use, catalysts for energy conversion systems and gas detection sensors.
