Hydrogen and fuel cell talks planned by US Senate

Hydrogen and fuel cell technology are set to be the focus of new talks held by the US government.

A briefing will be heard at the US Senate on the morning of April 16th into the benefits of a hydrogen economy in terms of carbon emission levels.

The presentation will cover work being carried out by companies, research institutions and government departments. The possibility for tax incentives and the role of the 110th Congress in the fight against climate change will also be discussed.

Also scheduled to take place are preliminary talks from senators Byron Dorgan and Lindsey Graham, as well as from representative Bob Inglis, who was recently invited to become an honorary member of the National Hydrogen Association in the US.

Speaking to the Senate will be Dr Dan Arvizu of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Keith Cole of General Motors, Catherine Dunwoody of the California Fuel Cell Partnership, Michael Holmes from the University of Dakota's Energy and Environmental Research Centre and Dr Claude Roulet of Schlumberger Carbon Services.
