Viaspace delivers fuel cell supplies to Samsung

A subsidiary of US fuel cell technology company Viaspace has delivered methanol fuel cell cartridges and valves to Samsung, according to a statement released yesterday.

The company's Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation (DMFCC) made a delivery of sample cartridges which can be integrated with Samsung SDI fuel cells in portable electronic items.

Dr. Carl Kukkonen, Viaspace chief executive, commented: "This project involved extremely tight deadlines for several months and I'm quite proud of our team for meeting these milestones and keeping Samsung's development project on schedule."

Samsung SDI, a sunsidary of Samsung, manufactures plasma and liquid crystal display screens.

Viaspace said that talks with Samsung were still ongoing, but added that specific details about the company's electronic applications were currently confidential.

Based in Pasadena, California, Viaspace was originally established in 1998.

As well as developing DMFC cartridges the company also manufactures fuel cell humidity sensor products.
