Mayor announces Air Products as refuelling supplier for London’s hydrogen bus fleet

The Mayor of London announced on Friday that Transport for London has signed a £3.4 million contract with Air Products to provide hydrogen fuel for the Capital's planned fleet of hydrogen buses and to build and maintain the hydrogen refuelling infrastructure.

In February 2006, the Mayor announced the London Hydrogen Transport programme, which aims to introduce 70 new hydrogen vehicles into London, ten of which will be buses.

Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, said the announcement of a hydrogen supplier for London's planned hydrogen bus fleet is an important step forward in plans for the use of hydrogen as a 'fuel of the future'.

Deputy Mayor of London and Chair of the London Hydrogen Partnership, Nicky Gavron, commented that the announcement underlines London's commitment to tackle climate change and sends a strong signal to industry that London is the place to come to deliver hydrogen vehicles.
