ITM Power agree deal with Roush Technologies
The collaboration will see the two companies join forces to increase the number of low-emission cars on UK roads.
Roush Technologies, which already has considerable experience in the design and engineering of commercial vehicles, will begin adapting internal combustion-engines in cars and developing ways to utilise hydrogen fuel.
ITM says it will work to develop a "breakthrough fuelling solution" which will enable vehicle operators to produce their own hydrogen power.
Jim Heathcote, chief executive of ITM Power, commented: "This is a significant co-operative agreement between two companies who are committed to bringing
practical hydrogen power into the automotive market place within a dramatically reduced timeframe."
Founded in 2000, ITM Power became the first fuel cell company to be admitted to the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market in 2004.
