Hydrogen project 'could attract engineers to Jutland'

Denmark's largest ever hydrogen project could prove instrumental in attracting qualified engineers to Jutland, it has been claimed.

This is one of the main goals of the initiative according to Flemming Wennike of the Danish Engineers' Association, and such an approach has proved successful before.

"It is important to spread the workforce," he told the Copenhagen Post.

"I've seen examples where jobs within the renewable energy sector have had a magnetic pull effect, such as with Bang & Olufsen in western Jutland."

This summer, six new hydrogen plants will be opened in western Jutland, all of which will use renewable energy such as wind to produce hydrogen.

It is part of a nationwide objective called hydrogen link which aims to establish hydrogen fuelling stations up and down the country - which will be used to fuel hydrogen and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles - in time for the UN Climate Conference in 2009.
