Staxera opens new plant in Dresden
Staxera, a manufacturer and developer of SOFC stacks has opened a new R&D and production center in Dresden.
The decision to move into the new facility was taken in March 2007 after important technical milestones in product development had been reached. After 8 months construction work a 500 square metre production hall, labs and office space for up to 35 employees is now finished.
The new facility in Dresden offers Staxera adequate space for growth over the coming years. The company is the first user of the new “Matpolis” development area where the city management plans to further concentrate companies closely related to the material science activities within the Winterbergstrasse campus of the Fraunhofer Research Center in Dresden. The close proximity to Fraunhofer IKTS supports the continuous joint R&D program of Staxera and IKTS.
First generation Staxera stacks are still running after about 8000 hours under full load with a minimum power degradation of less than 0,4% per 1000 hours. A second generation showing 50% more power was presented in autumn 2007 at the San Antonio Fuel Cell Seminar.
Staxera Stacks were supplied in 2007 to several customers. The largest customer of Staxera is one of its shareholders, Enerday, in Neubrandenburg.
