Air Products, MTU Fuel Cells and Whittaker Engineering join SHFCA

The Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA) has increased its membership to 46 through the addition of Air Products, MTU Fuel Cells and Whittaker Engineering.

A total membership of 75 by March 2008 is now the aim, with Scottish local authorities, the offshore sector and industrial gas manufacturers being particularly targeted.

The SHFCA is a representative body which aims to assist with the development of Scottish hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

As well as announcing the fact that the three aforementioned firms have joined the association, it was also confirmed that the SHFC will chair a new public/private body charged with devising a road map and strategy for the country's fuel cell and hydrogen industry.

Also involved in the project will be the Scottish government and industry giants such as Scottish and Southern Energy.

Finally, the SHFCA has also revealed that it will move its headquarters to the Hydrogen Office in Fife in mid-2008, and in the meantime will be housed temporarily in Kinross, near Perth.
