New hydrogen station opened in Italy
A second hydrogen station has been opened in Mantova, Italy as part of project Zero Regio, it has been confirmed.
The Zero Region initiative is financed in part by the European Commission and concerns the construction of two networks for the distribution of hydrogen for the refuelling of fuel cell vehicles in the municipality of Mantua and Frankfurt.
Infraserv Hochst GmbH is coordinating the project at European level while the Lombardy Region is overseeing operations in Italy, and both are being supported by 16 partners from four European countries.
At the newly opened service station, hydrogen is produced onsite using a gas-powered 20 mc/h reformer.
This hydrogen will be used to power a fleet of three fuel cell Fiat Pandas purchased by the Lombardy Region.
The aim of the project is to improve the acceptance of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies with the general public, Heinrich Lienkamp, from Infraserv Hochst, said.
