Rolls Royce to launch US fuel cell subsidiary
The joint venture, which is to be established in conjunction with American Electric Power (AEP) in Ohio, is set to develop fuel cell systems at Stark State College of Technology's campus in Canton, Ohio.
"Today's announcements underscore our focus on the future of fuel cell technology and continue our drive to develop highly efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly power systems," commented Charles Coltman, the chairman and chief executive of Rolls Royce Fuel Cell Systems, the subsidiary involved in the deal.
"Ohio is at the forefront of fuel cell development and demonstration, and we are delighted to be working with an industry leader such as AEP."
Rolls Royce Fuel Cell Systems is also set to collaborate with AEP in the development of prototype fuel cell systems at Ohio's Dolan Technology Centre and Test Facility in Columbus, Ohio.
