Digital Ultracap signs up for ICCU fuel cell centres
The firm will work with partner ICCU Holding B.V. on the "energy centres", with Germany, Poland, Portugal and Bulgaria identified as potential locations.
Each centre, which will cover a range of energy-based technologies, is expected to take three years to bring up to speed, with funds set to be provided to get the scheme up and running.
BMW, Porsche and VW are all also collaborating in the hybrid tests, which will explore the potential for an automotive system based on clean power.
The plants will be set up near corporate hubs, with the backers behind the plan keen to ensure the developers work closely with the commercial market and to ensure sufficient funding.
Digital Gas, meanwhile, has set up a holding firm to run subsidiaries based on the development, which will include Digital Ultracap, Digital Sofcell, Synfuel and Digital Electric.
