- Organisation Description
The University of St. AndrewsÂ’ School of Chemistry has an active SOFC research programme. Interests include the development of improved materials. In recent years its research has benefited from the support of EPSRC, Tioxide Specialties, British Gas, Rolls Royce, the UK Ministry of Defence, and the European Union. In April 2003 its Centre for Advanced Materials presented the SOFCRoll, a radical new SOFC cell design and a departure from conventional planar and tubular configurations. The new design, which is at an initial prototyping stage, incorporates a double spiral to ensure gas segregation, and forms a stronger tube-like design.
