Organisation Description

SOFCo-EFS is developing SOFC and fuel processor technology. SOFCo-EFS intends to commercialize two product lines: fuel processors for fuel cell and non-fuel cell applications, and hot box subsystems, where a hot box includes an insulated enclosure, SOFC stacks, manifolds and hot piping, heat exchangers, fuel processor and spent fuel burner. The company has experience with a number of reforming technologies (catalytic and non-catalytic partial oxidation reforming, autothermal reforming and steam reforming) and a wide range of fuels (e.g., natural gas, propane, kerosene, gasoline, and diesel). . The initial prototype will deliver a 2kW output operating on natural gas. Further developments include larger systems in the area of 10 - 50 kW.
SOFCo-EFS also has significant experience in the design and performance modeling (using ASPEN) of fuel processors and complete fuel cell systems. The company is working with developers of power systems to design customized fuel processor and hot box subsystems to meet the requirements for specific power systems. SOFCo intends to supply fuel processors and hox box subsystems to system integrators for assembly into their products.

Partners
SOFCo is teamed with Cummins Power Generation to develop a 3-10kW solid oxide fuel cell system for auxiliary power in recreational vehicles and commercial work vehicles, and for emergency power at remote telecommunication sites.
