Organisation Description

Shell Hydrogen is a global business of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of companies with the head quarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and regional bases in Houston, Hamburg and Tokyo. Shell Hydrogen was set up in 1999 to pursue and develop business opportunities related to hydrogen and fuel cells.
The company has entered (2001) in to a venture with International Fuel Cells to develop, manufacture and sell fuel processors for the emerging fuel cell and hydrogen fuel markets. Shell has a long history of fuel cell development, having developed the UK’s first fuel cell vehicle in 1968.

Partners
Shell Hydrogen is member of the California Fuel Cell Partnership, where the company runs a hydrogen filling station. <br/>Shell Hydrogen is in a partnership with Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation in Norway, a specialist, high-temperature, solid-oxide fuel cell (SOFC). <br/>Other partners include: Icelandic New Energy Ltd, UTC Fuel Cells, HERA (joint venture between Hydro-Quebec (HQ) and Gesellschaft für Elektrometallurgie), HydrogenSource. <br/>In June 2003, the company announced an agreement with Vandenborre to jointly develop home hydrogen refuelling products.
