Organisation Description

Quantum Technologies (QTWW) provides manufacturers of fuel cell engines and internal combustion engines with fuel storage system technologies. The company also acts as a components supplier for engineered fuel delivery and fuel storage systems. The core competencies of Quantum Technologies include gaseous fuel storage, fuel metering, electronic controls and fuel system integration, all of which can be applied to fuel cell systems. It has developed and demonstrated all-composite hydrogen storage tanks that store hydrogen at 10,000 psi (700 Bar). At this pressure 80% more hdyrogen fuel can be stored in a given space than at 5,000 psi - dramatically increasing the range of fuel cell vehicles. The company has also been working on hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2-ICE), together with Texaco Ovionic Hydrogen Systems. QTWW plans to deploy some 36 H2-ICE vehicles, based on the Toyota Prius hybrid car, on the raod in Southern California as part of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) H2-ICE Vehicle and Fueling demonstration project.

Partners
In April 2003, the company announced the signing of an agreement in which QUANTUM will acquire all of the outstanding shares of Global Thermoelectric. However, this combination agreement was terminated in August 2003 after FuelCell Energy aquired the outstanding shares of Global Thermoelectric. <br/>In April 2003, Quantum signed a contract with Japanese Sumitomo which will strengthen Quantum's position in Japan.
