FuelCell Energy (FCE) develops electrochemical technologies such as molten carbonate fuel cells that generate electricity without combustion. The company has developed a fuel cell that can be fed fuel directly without an external reformer. FuelCell Energy currently offers its Direct FuelCell (DFC) power plant in three sizes, ranging from 300kW to 1.2MW and 2.4MW. These offer up to 47% system efficiency compared to 30-35% for other power plants in their size range with fewer emissions.

Partners
The Company has developed commercial distribution alliances for its carbonate Direct FuelCell technology with MTU CFC Solutions in Europe; POSCO in South Korea; Marubeni Corporation in Asia; Caterpillar, PPL Energy Plus, Chevron Energy Solutions and Alliance Power in the U.S; and Enbridge in Canada. FuelCell Energy is developing Direct FuelCell technology for stationary power plants with the U.S. Department of Energy and Department of Defense through its Office of Fossil Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory.
