AMI solid oxide fuel cell designs are said to be unique in their simplicity, efficiency, and low cost. Much of the balance of plant, that part of the fuel cell power system not actively generating electricity, is superfluous with the AMI designs. This can eliminate as much as 50% of the total fuel cell system cost.
