ITM Power and Logan Energy to Cooperate on Scottish Hydrogen Projects
15 Feb 2012

Sheffield-based electrolyser manufacturer ITM Power and Edinburgh-based integrator and distributor Logan Energy Limited (a subsidiary of the US company LOGANEnergy) have signed a Cooperation Agreement for the joint tendering of hydrogen energy storage and hydrogen fuel projects in Scotland. Under the agreement Logan Energy will undertake all project management and after sales support for any installations. The companies hope to maximise the local supply chain for the Scottish projects.
Scotland has the highest wind energy potential of anywhere in the EU however the large-scale utilisation of intermittent renewables such as wind can lead to grid balancing issues; hydrogen storage is seen as a good solution to such power intermittency. The two companies are likely to court Scottish renewable energy companies to this purpose.
John Lidderdale, MD of Logan Energy, commented; “We are looking forward to working with ITM Power in Scotland. The necessity for energy storage technology in the renewable energy system means that there will be many opportunities for us to work together immediately and into the future.”
