Hyundai North America CEO John Krafcik has stated that the company plans to unveil a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, which starts on Friday 22nd November.

Speaking at the automaker’s R&D facility near Ypsilanti, Michigan, Krafcik stated that “The fuel cell solution … sort of brings together the best features of (internal combustion engines) and the best features of battery electric vehicles. It is very compelling. It has great range. I can refill it in almost no time, and it is not impacted by weather.”

It is unclear whether the vehicle will be an updated version of the ix35 Fuel Cell already in series production for limited lease in Europe or a new vehicle entirely. Honda will also be revealing a fuel cell concept at the show and Toyota will showcase its latest fuel cell concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, also starting on Friday 22nd November.
