Oorja and Powertech Execute MOU for Partnership for the Telecom Market

Oorja Protonics (Oorja) announced today that it has executed a multi-party Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to evaluate and demonstrate Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFC) systems for the Telecom Tower Market in South Africa. Oorja, along with Powertech System Integrators (PTSI) and HySA/Catalysis (co-hosted by UCT and Mintek), is aiming to commercialise its OorjaPac DMFC system in this application.

Powertech System Integrators is strategically committed to the Telecommunications and the Back-up Power Systems domain and has an established track record with leading Telecom customers in installing and managing large turnkey managed services.

Dr. Sanjiv Malhotra, CEO and President of Oorja Protonics commented, "This is a very unique relationship between our respective companies since this marks the entry of Oorja into the South African Telecom Market and Powertech and HySA are the right partners for assisting in this endeavour."

Mr. Kennith Shuda, PTSI Engineering Manager commented, "We will add value with our inhouse developed remote monitoring system that collects the performance data from all the Fuel Cells in the field and our seven years of in-depth technical knowledge and experience with Fuel Cell Systems from various international suppliers."
