California Fuel Cell Partnership Publishes Road Map for Buses

28 Mar 2013

Emeryville

The California Fuel Cell Partnership has published 'A Road Map for Fuel Cell Electric Buses in California: A zero-emission solution for public transit'. The piece looks at the progress of fuel cell electric buses in California and globally, and offers recommendations to state and federal policy makers in California about actions they can take to put these buses on the path to full commercial readiness.

CaFCP Bus Report CoverThe road map proposes two centres of excellence for fuel cell buses within California. 40 buses would operate at each location. They would need to meet transit agency requirements and would be operated in normal revenue service over a 12 year period. Fuel use would need to be cost-comparative with existing diesel and natural gas buses. Each centre would cost approximately $50 million.

The report can be downloaded free of charge from the California Fuel Cell Partnership's website.
