02 Aug 2013

BASF Exits MEA manufacture

BASF has announced a restructuring of its fuel cell systems activities meaning it is exiting the manufacture of membrane electrode assemblies. In the future the company will focus on catalysts and adsorbents for fuel cells and these products are managed by BASF’s Catalysts division. As a result, BASF Fuel Cell, Inc., Somerset, New Jersey, will be closed from August 1st 2013. The site produced membrane electrode assemblies for high-temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell systems. The closing of the Somerset production site affects about 25 employees.
