Honda FCX Clarity Powering Kitakyushu Home

Honda Inverter Kitakyushu

Honda is testing its FCX Clarity power inverter in the field, using the fuel cell electric vehicle to power a Kitakyushu home once a week between 10:00 and 16:00. The experiment is scheduled to last two years, until the end of FY 2014. Honda first announced the system, which can supply up to 9 kW electricity continuously for more than seven hours on a full tank of hydrogen, in March 2012. Power shortages in Japan following 2011’s natural disaster and subsequent nuclear plant shutdowns has heightened interest in the use of electric vehicles as emergency power supplies for houses.
