North-Rhine Westphalia Government Launches Capital Subsidy for micro-CHP

29 Oct 2012

The German State of North-Rhine Westphalia has launched a capital subsidy scheme for commercial customers and energy service companies who install highly efficient micro-CHP products of less than 50 kilowatts. This scope includes fuel cell micro-CHP systems such as Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited’s (CFCL) BlueGen.

Subsidy varies per product; CFCL expects a subsidy of 45% of the extra cost of the product compared to a conventional reference product to be applied for its system, averaging at around a €10,000 saving per customer. The subsidy is increased by a further 10–20% for small and medium sized businesses.

The subsidy programme is to begin immediately and will run until the end of 2017 as part of a larger €250 million funding programme to support CHP deployment in North-Rhine Westphalia.
