Ajusa Launches Project to Improve Bipolar Plates for Greater PEM Fuel Cell Performance

Ajusa CarAuto Juntas S.A.U (Ajusa) has announced the launch of the Innplágeno project which began at the start of November 2012. The project is aiming for ‘innovation in manufacturing and coating technologies for the optimisation of bipolar plates for PEM fuel cells’. Ajusa is leading the project, which also involves the materials technology department from CTM Centre Tecnològic.

These two companies are targetting the development of new manufacturing technologies for metal bipolar plates and protective coatings for PEM Fuel Cells. Improving durability and performance of bipolar plates will benefit current PEMFC applications such as automotive.

The project will last for three years and has a total budget of €1,124,000 ($1,449,000); it is co-financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness’ Innpacto program within its National Plan of Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation.
