ITM Power sells Electrolyser to CEA for Renewable Energy Simulations

26 Jul 2012

UK-based electrolyser manufacturer ITM Power has announced the sale of a 5Nm3/hr electrolyser to the CEA, the French government-funded technological research institution.

The CEA will feed the electrolyser with a power simulator designed to mimic varying forms and loads of renewable energy. The hydrogen produced by the electrolyser will be stored in a metal hydride system before being used in a fuel cell to produce renewable power on demand.

The storage of excess renewable energy as hydrogen via electrolysis is an increasingly attractive proposition and one that is being actively investigated by many companies and organisations.

All ITM electrolysers are manufactured in the UK and CE marked for sale across Europe.
