Panasonic is to open a new fuel cell research and development centre in Cardiff, Wales in September 2012. The £2 million investment by Panasonic is being backed with £450,000 of funding from the Welsh Government. The facility, which was announced in April, will adapt and modify domestic fuel cell products for the UK and wider European markets. Appropriately, Sir William Grove, widely acclaimed inventor of the fuel cell, was a Welshman.
