25 May 2011

Intelligent Energy has announced the first delivery of the Intelligent Energy powered Suzuki Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter outside of the Suzuki Motor Corporation. The scooter was presented to Nippon Steel, the world's fourth largest steel manufacturer, at a ceremony which took place at Kitakyushu Hydrogen Station in Kita-Kysushu, Japan, on 17 May.

At the ceremony Akio Mimura-san, Chairman of Nippon Steel, said that the current situation in Japan has highlighted the importance of distributed generation and alternative energy sources, and Nippon hopes to contribute with hydrogen generated at its factory.

Intelligent Energy considers its 'design once, deploy many times' technology to be ideal for the Japanese market. Suzuki has indicated that it intends to extend the use of fuel cell technology to other vehicle applications.
