APFCT Wins Taiwan BOE Contract for 80 Scooters

12 Jul 2011

Asia Pacific Fuel Cell Technologies (APFCT) has been awarded a project contract by the Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan (BoE), for a fleet of 80 fuel cell scooters for demonstration and validation purposes.

APFCT, a PEMFC developer based in Taiwan, has previously built and run a fleet of 10 fuel cell scooters under the BOE subsidy programme. Under the new contract the testing of the scooters will now take place under real-world conditions, being used in a range of scenarios such as daily commuting and tourist rental. The users' perception of and experience with the scooters will be monitored.

During this second phase of testing, information on the hydrogen supply model will also be collected. The scooters will be fuelled by exchangeable metal hydride canisters.

Manufacturing of the 80 scooters is expected to be complete in May next year.
