Company description
AFC Energy is a developer of alkaline fuel cells. Focused on large-scale, industrial application, AFC Energy's fuel cell produces electricity from hydrogen at an electrical efficiency of 60%.
The easiest application for AFC Energy's technology is industries which produce hydrogen as a waste product. The chlor-alkaline industry is responsible for 1% of the world's electricity use and produces 1.65 million tonnes of hydrogen a year as a by-product. Redistributing this hydrogen into an AFC Energy fuel cell could support 3000 MW of clean energy globally and allow for safe, efficient and emissions free on-site electricity generation. Agreements are held with AkzoNobel and Ineos in Europe.
