Making a Clean Delivery: UPS enters the fuel cell playing field
United Parcel Service of America (UPS) has recently begun using a fuel cell powered van to deliver parcels in Stuttgart, Germany, and has plans to introduce more fuel cell vehicles in the USA during 2004. It is the latest in a long line of clean automotive technologies to be trialled and promoted by the firm.

UPS has a long association with clean transport technologies. The global delivery firm first used electric vehicles in the 1930s and today it operates one of the largest private fleets of alternative fuel vehicles in North America. Around 1,800 clean vehicles are now on the road in the USA and Canada, powered by a range of fuels including compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and propane.
