New fuel cell vehicle report published

Author
David Jollie, Fuel Cell Today
The USA-based Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has recently published a report on the current developments being undertaken by the world's automobile manufacturers and the fuel cell's potential in this area.

Text

The report suggests, perhaps a little optimistically, that such fuel cell vehicles could be "mass-produced" by ther end of 2003 and that a seven per cent share of the automotive market could be gained by 2011. These numbers are aggressive estimates compared to those of the vehicle manufacturers themselves, which put the date of "commercialisation" some years further back.

However, the report does not ignore the challenges and difficulties lying ahead for fuel cells and also addresses these, as well as describing the background and history of this technology. For more information on this report, contact SAE or go to www.sae.org.
